We talk a lot about good design being an important part of what being a great sign is all about—but what is good design? I think we know when we see it but are there any top tips that we can follow to help us create great designs that turn into great signs?
I’m lucky to work with two graphic designers, so I was able to pick their brains and get their ideas based on their education and experience: this is what they said to me.
Don’t make the design any more complicated than it has to be.
Sometimes simple is just simply better.
Maintain a consistent style.
Know what you’re designing for.
Choose a balanced color palette, colors which work well together: our team can help.
The form should fit the function: the shape/type of the sign should relate to its intended function or purpose.
