I never look outside anymore. I sit in an office filled with large windows, looked up and my eye caught a squirrel running across the grass, playing happily in the sun, and it caught me off guard to realize that I never do notice what is going on outside of my box. When I was young, I noticed every little thing going on around me; wind blowing flowers, clouds, sunlight hitting objects so perfectly that it would hypnotize me, and I could not break my gaze. What is it that dies inside us as we age? Whatever it is must creep in slowly and take over, it infiltrates under the guise of growing up, and kills all that remains of our childlike innocence and imagination.
There are times when a song from when I was younger will come on, and I will close my eyes, and for a moment I am there again. For a moment I am young, confident, and full of hope. This only lasts a moment, and as I wake from my momentary state of bliss, I wonder to myself if anyone else out there does the same thing.
I guess what I am trying to say is, life is fleeting, but wonderful. Fight like crazy to keep or gain back your childlike wonder. Next time you see a sign on the side of the road for an attraction, stop and see what adventures may wait for you there. Seize any and all opportunities that present themselves to you. This is your time, this is your season, this is your life, MAKE IT COUNT!
ENJOY THE WEATHER…ENJOY THE SUMMER!
